The Seton Hall Pirates will take on the Peacocks of St. Peters tomorrow at Owen T. Carroll Field. The Pirates are coming off of a sweep against the Manhattan Jaspers. In the series, the Pirates gave up only 2 runs and scored 13. The Peacocks are coming off of a double header against Temple. Temple took the first game 2-1, but St. Peters won the second game 5-3. The Pirates will look to improve on their 12-3 record, coming off of their third sweep of the young season. The Peacocks are looking for their 4th win of the season, they currently hold a 3-12 record. The Peacocks have been led by SS Jon Kristoffersen who has 23 hits and 7 RBI on the season. Chris Hugg has also stood out for the Peacocks, with 5 doubles and 9 RBI. Zach Hopf has been the leader on the pitching staff, with 25 innings pitched and a solid 7.2 strikeouts per game. The Pirates have been led by SS D.J. Ruhlman who has posted a stellar average of .441 and has 26 hits on the season. When you add in his 5 walks, he has an on base percentage of .500. Ruhlman also leads the team in total bases with 37. First baseman Sal Annunziata leads the team in doubles (9) and runs batted in (17). Center fielder Zack Weigel leads the team in runs scored with 17. On the hill, the Pirates have been led by their ace, senior Josh Prevost. Prevost has posted a 5-0 record with a 1.85 ERA. He has two complete games including a complete game shutout. Opponents have only been hitting .193 off of Josh Prevost.
Josh Prevost and D.J. Ruhlman were honored this week for their performances over the weekend. Prevost was named Big East pitcher of the week the third time this season. Ruhlman was named to the Big East honor roll for the second time this season. Prevost threw his first career complete game shutout to lead the Pirates over the Jaspers. He surrendered only 4 hits and struck out 6 on the day. Ruhlman had a great weekend, with 6 hits and 2 RBI’s. He also had the walk off single on Saturday to win game 2 of the series.
