Pirates Down Blue Devils

The Seton Hall Pirates were back in action today at the Prudential Center to take on the Central Connecticut State Blue Devils. The Pirates came in at 1-0 and so did the Blue Devils. The Pirates would ultimately improve to 2-0 with an 82-58 victory.

The Pirates and Blue Devils traded scores to open the game at 2-2. From there the Pirates would go on a 15-0 run to take a 17-2 lead. The Pirates would add to that lead throughout the half and when Khadeen Carrington ended the half with a bucket the Pirates held a 44-25 lead.

The Pirates were led in the first half by Khadeen Carrington with 12 points. Angel Delgado had 9 points and 12 rebounds. Desi Rodriguez chipped in 6 points and 4 rebounds for the Hall.

The Blue Devils were led by Tafari Whittingham with 6 points. Austin Nehls had 5 points and Tidell Piere also added 5 points. Tyson Batiste chipped in 5 points and grabbed 2 boards in the first half.

CCSU would put up a fight in the second half. A free throw from Mustafa Jones with 13:55 to go in the second half would cut the SHU lead to 14. From there the Pirates would answer and extend the lead. The Pirates would go on to take a hold of the game and grab and 82-58 victory over CCSU.

The Pirates were led overall by Khadeen Carrington who had 18 points and 4 assists. Angel Delgado had his 25th career double double. He scored 14 points and grabbed 16 rebounds. Myles Powell and Desi Rodriguez each had solid games, tallying 13 and 12 points respectively. Ismael Sanogo swatted away 3 shots on the day.

The Blue Devils were led by Mustafa Jones with 11 points and 4 rebounds. Tyson Batiste chipped in 10 points and 5 rebounds. Tafari Whittingham and Austin Nehls each had 9 points. Tidell Pierre added 8 points and 4 rebounds.

With the loss the Blue Devils fall to 1-1 on the season. With the victory the Pirates improve to 2-0 on the season. The Blue Devils will now head to Binghamton to face the Binghamton Bearcats on Wednesday. The Pirates will to Iowa on Thursday to take on the Hawkeyes.
